Greyhounds Needing a Home

A couple weeks ago you many have seen the article in the paper on the Greyhound race track in Commerce City closing. In that article they mentioned that the dogs would need new homes. Well, now I’m receiving emails about the needed adoptions, no surprise.

There are a total of 250 dogs needing new homes, and local shelters do not have enough space for the unfortunate dogs. From the emai, “Retired greyhounds, or greyhounds of any type, make absolutely wonderful pets – they do very well in apartments and a large percentage of them can live comfortably with cats. Greyhounds come in many beautiful colors and coat patterns and really are very nice, pleasant animals.” I personally have been around fostered greyhound that have retired from racing, and they are remarkably low energy and well behaved dogs.

Help save these dogs from being euthanized. For more info, please visit www.recycledracers.org.

Greyhounds make great pets and companions. Having one as our first dog, we couldn’t be happier. She made the long trek from Chicago to Colorado Springs with us in the front seat of the moving truck and was as happy as can be. I hope anyone considering a dog would consider a gh too, and I’ll get the word out down here.

Please feel free to gank any of my photos of Slammer the greyhound to help coerce the people!
