Sex and the City: The Movie is being released next Friday night. So I will date myself and look like a dork when I post here… I want to see it. I will go see it. And to make matters worst in my dating myself… I want to see Madonna in November too. Back to SATC.

I have been listening to the local radio stations offer their coverage of the movie and what you could win if you play their contests to earn free tickets to the movie. They all sound like fun, but I’m not about to spend 20 frantic minutes trying to call in, to play a game online or live my life next to the speakers waiting to hear a song to be played so I can be caller 1,451. I plan on seeing the movie, not carrying so much if it’s opening night or not – but I will see it.

Then enters an online newspaper that sends me weekly updates. There on the front page is a “Win tickets – write an essay” contest. I think – “what they hey, what could I lose?” So I fill out the form, write down in 500 words or less what character I relate to of SATC and clicked “SUBMIT”. (Carrie Bradshaw if you are wondering).

Yesterday I received an email saying I won 2 tickets to the special advance screening of the movie. It releases on Friday – this is on Tuesday. This is better then the radio contests… because I would see it before anyone else. SCORE! I picked carefully who I wanted to go with me and we are set to go. We are geared up and ready to go for next Tuesday, but after sitting down and really reading the email, I discovered this on the website of where the promotion was originated from:

Please note: Passes received through this promotion do not guarantee you a seat at the theatre. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis, except for members of the reviewing press. Theatre is overbooked to ensure a full house. No admittance once screening has begun.

Now I shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth – but why do they do this? Over-book? It’s like the airlines revisited again. I will be there. Why else would I bare my soul online and post my characteristics that were like Carrie? I’m sure they know this will be a sell out in most theaters on Friday night, winning tickets for a Tuesday night would make it no different. I don’t see why they have to over-book. Is this necessary? I don’t think so. If you look at this from the economy side? I won 2 tickets. But I will have to pay gas to get down town. Pay for parking. Pay for dinner, pop-corn and a coke. I may have won, but I’m still paying. Why the need for over-booking? Especially if I have to pay for the gas and parking?

I relayed this to my husband and he said we had gone through this before. I can’t remember who won the tickets or the name of the movie, but we went to the designated spot – and we missed the cut off time. People had been standing in line for 2 hours for this early release and they said about 100 people were turned away when the theater was full.

So in a nutshell… I will be there. Early. Extra-early. And if I miss out? I will wait till Saturday or Sunday of next week to see it, because after all – I will be seeing this movie.

Update: My friend and I did get in. There was 463 seats, and from what 9 News said – everyone was able to get a seat that showed up. We were in the early 100′s of the crowd so we also got great seats. For those interested in going and wondering if it will translate to the screen… you will not be disappointed.

Near Castle Rock. This was taken on the way out to Phoenix.

This road is an area that was supposed to be home development but never made it. The guy went bankrupt or something like that, sold it to the county and it was turned into a practice area for the Douglas Police Academy officers in training to drive the cars at fast speeds.

When my husband went through the academy a few years ago – he learned how to drive and maneuver on this road. I even went with him on one of his practices and he scared the crap out of me with his mad driving skills.

I thought it was neat seeing the road from a different perspective.

I’m leaving for Phoenix for a week with my current job, a perk if you ask me with the company I work with. We travel every 6 months for a week to different cities, I’ve been to Colorado Springs (the Broadmoor), Dallas, Salt Lake City and now Phoenix.

But this isn’t about my travels – it’s about leaving one of my favorite restaurants behind. It’s not like I eat here daily, but I have to give it a shout out none the less. :)

If you are up for something different in the pizza sense – then you must try out Sauce. Located in DTC near DTC Blvd and Belleview – their gourmet pizza’s are to die for. Of course, I’m one of the pickiest eaters in the world, but this place is just amazing with what they can do with a pizza. I will admit that a Prosciutto and Melon pizza may sound a little strange, and I’ll be honest I haven’t had it – but it did look good when a co-worker ordered it a month ago. When I went with another friend, she ordered the Chicken Caesar and Parmesan pizza and I had Pepperoni and Prosciutto pizza, we ended up sharing.

So if you are looking for a little something different, and you are in DTC, try Sauce. And if you get a little stain on your shirt, it just means the food was that good.

This weekend should be a really nice weekend to get out and take photos… if you are a photo-nut like myself. What?! Chances of snow? On Easter? No!

Well, if the weather holds out – this weekend is the 35th Annual Denver Pow-Wow at the Denver Coliseum. A few of my photogs from local groups will be there. I was raised in New Mexico – so watching the Native American dances is very familiar to me – but if you haven’t been to one, I suggest you go. The colorful dress they wear and when they dance is just spectacular. I’m not sure of the number of groups – but I’m sure it will be pretty big, so it will be a site to see.

I myself, will be at a few of Parker’s area Easter Egg Hunts, taking photos of little tykes – who will be possibly attending their first shing-ding, not knowing what the heck to do with the colorful eggs. They will stare in awe at the bigger kids who have turned into wild stampedes chasing after such colorful oval toys and wonder why they have to have more than one egg. Bring on the Easter Beagle!

I don’t know about you – but when it comes to the crazy weather – I wish Mother Nature would dump it on us and get it over with so that I can get out and start enjoying the nice weather.

I guess we start with a Hello.

Hey!!

I’m Fizzy aka Susan, another new writer to the Denver Metblog. I’ve been a long time reader, short time commenter and now I’ve come over to other side and will be posting for Denver.

I have been a local since 2000 (really… we moved to Littleton into our townhouse on 12/31/99) – and my family consists of 1 Husband (17 years), 2 kids (Teen Girl and a Teen Boy), 2 dogs (traditional lab and a cocker spaniel) and we now live south – down in Parker.

I’m a web designer full time with photography being my real love and coming up close behind to take over and be my full time job eventually. My contribution will be posting pictures of Denver and the area.

To finish – I’ll post one back from last year at the Chatfield Balloon Rally.
