I dunno…Hick’s attempt at humor as come across as well…flat. At least to me. If this was intended to make people go outside the convention catered grounds…then do it another way. In the face of the Dems having canceling preview events and running short of money…it just smacks of, "This is what you’ve come up with?".

We’ll see how it all works out. I couldn’t go without fried foods. I like you would die on it daily…but once a week or so? SWEET HEAVEN. :)

I read an article about this a day or two ago. I think this is largely a non-issue. Hickenlooper’s comments about the patriotic colors in the food was probably an attempt at humor. The "no fried food" menu is just the sort of thing that political people do for show. The media eats this stuff up. (No pun intended. Well, maybe intended just a little bit. :)

I suspect most of the grumbling in Southern newspaper editorials (I first read about this in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution) is tongue-in-cheek. It would be difficult to have a menu that represented every possible sort of cuisine that delegates would be likely to prefer, and it’s not going to hurt anyone to eat some vegetables for a few days. Besides, I’m sure there are places around downtown were they can step out for a bit to get their fix. (Bayou Bob’s, anyone?)

I’m from the South and I think that Southern food is some of the best food, anywhere. There are certain restaurants I always look forward to visiting whenever I head back to Mississippi for a visit. But man, I’m sure I’d drop dead if I ate fried food every day.

I meant more in a media based sense. Denver’s never really gotten (in my mind) the coverage that other places have. Mind you, I’m still nursing the outright bias TBS and other major outlets displayed back when our Rockies took the Pennant. Hick’s been pretty solid…but now he’s just playing too nice. He needs to stop hugging trees. Seriously. :)

Another reason to hate us? Southerners love us! I mean the ones that travel beyond the Mason Dixon line. My relatives just don’t understand why there aren’t more fat people here.

I’m just concerned that this whole "green" mandate is going to give the South another reason to hate us…I mean, yea I know fried food is bad for you…but I/they/we should be able to choose to est healthy.

The union/organic thing was funny because according to one of those sites…they could find one and the other…but not those two together.

I just think it’s ill advised and too much high falootinness on the part of Hick and the Dem leadership.

Another notable from that article was the mandate for all merchandise to the organic and union made. That’s gonna be a hard one, I think.

Hickenlooper pooperscooper is trying to equate a life style with patriotism?!?! Isn’t it typical? Just another twisted mindset that is destroying the fabric of the American way of life.
