Farewell to Aurora
Today I said goodbye to Havana Street. I waved a salute to the great places along the road. I will miss the heartbeat of the city and the unique collection of culture and energy that lives on those streets. I’ll miss Johnny’s Diner with the men in pinstripes and guys in shorts and ladies in Daisy Dukes…although perhaps not in that order.
I will miss my waffle addiction being fed at Dozens and the every so often chats with the Denny’s waitress just down the road. I will miss the walks to the grocery store and the crush on Supervisor Ashley that was never really fulfilled. I’ll miss the new changes all down the way to Colfax as the area begins to wake up. I won’t miss the empty Buckingham buildings…but I will miss watching the construction slowly attempt to bring further light to the district.
For the last year I’ve called it home. It has served me well in returning to the these United States from a land far away. Oddly enough, there were those that hailed from that faraway land living in Aurora, making the transition gentler. I will miss you Aurora. I’ll drive through on my way to work and stop to see the sights once in awhile.
You see, Denver’s DU neighborhood is calling. And I hear they love Republicans there. Just about worship them.
You stay classy A-town. I’ll be next door.
Welcome to Denver! :)
