Fresh Produce Sale!

images-1.jpegIt’s almost time for the Fresh Produce sale, the one annual sale I try not to miss.  I’ve only been to the Boulder sales that are usually held in a large unoccupied office complex or warehouse setting but this one is going to be at FlatIron Mall in Broomfield.   If you’re willing to plow through tables full of tops and shorts and strip down in a common dressing room full of women of all shapes and sizes, you can get some great bargains on their normally pricey clothes.    Details:  2 weekends! May 16 - 18 and May 23 - 26Friday and Saturday, 10am-9pm Sunday (and Monday, Memorial Day) 11am-6pmThe Village at FlatIron Crossing Mall Off Hwy. 36 just west of Superior One West Flatiron Circle Broomfield, CO 80021 Located In the Village between Crate and Barrel and AMC Theatres

Best Barbeque?

I just returned from a trip to the Deep South where I discovered Moe’s Original Barbeque. It was delicious and satisfied my biannual BBQ craving and I know I’ll stop by Vail on the next trip to Glenwood Spgs for more. The sauce was different - a little thin without that tomato base. I’m trying to copy it at home but a mayonnaise-based “Alabama” recipe is all I’ve found to imitate. Don’t think that’s it.Is there such as thing as “Colorado BBQ”? I go to Brothers occasionally but what I remember most is the sweet potato pie and sweet tea. KT’s is pretty good but hasn’t ever instilled cravings for me.Anybody have any favorites? I tried to track down a place called Ethel’s once but it looked like it was closed. (Not sure if that was BBQ, thought). Ideas?

Just what Colorado needs…

According to Wired, one of the first attorneys to prosecute someone for the RIAA has been named to the CO Court of Appeals.

From wired,

“Richard Gabriel, who prosecuted the Jammie Thomas case, is a partner in the Colorado office of Holme Roberts & Owens. “

I know everyone has to make a living, but being a strong arm of the RIAA…. I think I’d rather shovel up dead critters on the interstate, in a monsoon. I don’t know that a monsoon would worsen the job, but it seems like floating soggy dead critters are worse than the sun dried variety.

Not sure what this means for Coloradans, working for the RIAA doesn’t necessarily mean that Richard Gabriel is anti “us” or pro business, though I’d draw that conclusion myself.

If anyone has to go through the appeals process after July 1, let us all know what he’s like.

in the mood for a show?

My wife and I spend Sunday night at the opening of A Chorus Line. It’s one of her favorite musicals, I hadn’t had the pleasure up until now.

It hasn’t displaced my top two favorites (Les Mis, and Wicked), but it’s certainly a good one to go see. It was interesting to me, that it’s quite a bit shorter than most shows I’ve seen. No intermission.

If you’re a theatre buff and haven’t seen it, or haven’t seen it lately, I’d highly recommend it. Oh and I’d hurry. Our Denver theatre runs are sort of ridiculously short. (May 4, 2008 — May 17, 2008)

I miss LA and the nice 6 month + runs that shows enjoyed.

At any rate, see you at the theatre!
