It’s First Friday time

It’s art time! My wife and I love first friday, it’s a chance to have some yummy food (often ethiopian) and see some art. We love seeing what local artists are doing, and love supporting them. This time around it’s also an opening for a new friend of ours, Jace Mattson, who we love. We stumbled onto her work and first friday quite by accident when my mom and sister were in town. Walking in to Michael Walter Art & Design we saw Jace’s work and fell in love, with one piece in particular “Wavy Gravy”. It’s actually three, Jace likes to do threes.

So if you’re free tonight, head up (or down) to Santa Fe and support local artists, look at their work, buy some!

I came across this site while trying to find some info. for a story I’m working on. I am a writer with the Associated Press and I’m looking for some Californians who recently moved to another part of the West and have either been made to feel a bit unwelcome or are really sick of all the anti-California attitude. If you can e-mail me back and tell me how to give you a call, that’d be great. Thanks, Angie Wagner

Hi…sorry for unexpected comments. The other week, I found your blog and read this post about the local art. As I have also wanted to visit or look around those art-something in neighbour, your blog was so good tips for me.
Today, I went out to visit the gallery on Santa Fe dr. However,…..Santa Fe street was kind of wiered to me. It was like so worn and slum(I am so is just my feeling). I could not get out of my car and just circled several times Santa Fe back and forth.
To be honest, I am a Korean woman who came to Denver a month ago. I do not know the America well so I became more feared with the street that was so different from my imagination.
Anyway, next time, I hope I could purchase a good work there. Thanks.

    Hi Judy,

Yeah, um, Santa Fe ain’t the prettiest part of town, but from what I’ve seen it’s not so bad. I can’t vouch for it, any other time than daylight hours and First Friday, but it’s safe. Don’t be afraid, it’s ok and the galleries are great! I bet if you spend enough the galery owner would even walk you to your car :) Maybe.
