Let It Snow! – Revised

I TAKE IT ALL BACK! I no longer like the snow due it taking me over 2hrs to go ONE mile and now being stranded at work.

I think we’re in for a snowy white ‘Holiday’ this year, folks! I love it, but think I maybe alone in this love. I don’t know about you, but I just want to run outside and build a snowman. Maybe after work?

The Denver snow plows are out and I thank them for the good job that they do. Lucky kids though, with all the schools being closed. Exams cancelled?

Interesting facts about Denver and it’s history of a snowy ‘Holiday’.

DOT is recommending that trucks put on their chains to get through Metro Denver. Amazing!

I’ve now shoveled the drive way 2x, the side walk 1x

each about 9-12 inches. When I’m shovelling, snow is the worst thing ever.

When I’m in the house watching the idiots try to get around rather than work from home, or take the day off, that’s pretty darn entertaining. we even made popcorn this afternoon when at least a dozen cars were in various states of distress on our street, 1 block… 1 block :)

I can’t say I like the snow right now. I’m a CA native and my family just moved to Denver in August. My flight was canceled and I don’t get to see them until Christmas morning, which was the first flight I could get.

People are always asking me if I’ll move there now that my family is there. While it certainly is beautiful, that’s a nice big no. I’ll keep my smog and traffic if it means that I’m not stuck in my house because of several feet of snow!!

I have spent the last few years trying to get out of Denver. I wanted to move back to New York, I wanted to try San Francisco, I wanted to be anywhere else.

But recently, that changed. I’ve decided that for a variety of personal, professional, and political reasons (come on DNC…) I’m staying in Denver.

For the first time in the better part of a decade, I actually want to be in Denver, and where am I?

In Rochester, NY, with a ticket to JFK for a few hours hence. And Christmas with the family in Jersey after that. Back to Denver on the 26th, and that’s assuming that the new storm forming in Oregon doesn’t screw that plan up.

Apparently, I needed an object lesson in not tempting Murphy.

    Apparently, I needed a lesson

The gods were working in my favor for this storm: Xmas shopping finished, pantry full of food, brand new 32″ LCD TV and 18 yo son trapped at home and in a dekludging mood.
