Denver Restaurant Week

Seeing as it’s Denver’s Restaurant week (Feb 25 – March 3), we decided to get together with some friends and check out some of our locals. Tonight, it’s O’s Steak & Seafood restaurant, at the Westin Hotel. If you check out Denver’s Restaurant Week website, you can see a listing of all the participating restaurants and their menu’s. There is a set price of $52.80 for a couple or $26.40 for one, which gives you a chance to stay within a budget – for the week at least – and get to sample some of Denver’s best.

Tonight, I have decided to try the following:
First Course – Romaine Hearts with Caesar dressing
Second Course – Grilled Hanger Steak, Roasted Root Vegetable and Pommes Frites
Third Course – Seasonal Crème Brûlée Painters Plate

I have heard mixed reviews about O’s, so tonight, I can finally make a decision for myself. I’ll let you know my unprofessional opinion of the food. If anyone else has taken advantage of Restaurant Week or have any recommendations, please share!

    I used to work at the Westin, but I haven’t been to O’s in forever so I can’t really say about the food.

    Hit Lodo Bar and Grill to sample their DRW offering. They had their own ‘special-within-a-special’…4 people could eat for $52.80 total…NICE!

    We had :

    First Course
    Mixed baby greens topped with Gorgonzola cheese, walnuts and tossed with a balsamic vinaigrette.

    Second Course
    Jack Daniels Sirloin – a Black Angus sirloin grilled to your liking and topped with our peppercorn bourbon butter sauce.

    Third Course
    Apple Chimichanga – Washington apples wrapped in a flour tortilla and lightly fried. Served with ice cream, caramel and whipped cream.

    All in all, a really good meal with excellent service from our waitress Michele.

    My only complaint was the cigarette smoke…being a bar and all guess ya gotta expect it. It was the only negative to an overwhelmingly positive dining experience.

    So I changed my mind when I got to O’s and ended up ordering the following:
    – Romaine Hearts with Caesar Dressing
    – Scallion and Ginger Crusted Tuna, Asparagus Roll and Ponzu
    – New York Style Cheesecake with Brown Butter Nut Crust and Orange Dried-Cherry Preserves

    Let me just say, the Cheesecake was amazing. I could have eaten the entire cake, just just a slice. The bar drinks were quite good, as well. The service was prompt and friendly. My husbands Prime Rib was a little cold, so the waitstaff ‘upgraded’ his meal and then comp’ed his drinks.

    Overall, a fun evening with friends, good food and drinks, all for a favorable price!

    I wish I had more time to check out other restaurants.
