5280 has showing in California

5280 magazine, the regional award-nominated publication from the Mile High City, seems to be getting some play in California these days.

The magazine, a supporter/sponsor of Team TIAA-CREF based in and trains out of Boulder, is prominently displayed on team jersey’s shoulders as you can see from this photo of young Taylor Tolleson in yesterday’s Amgen Tour of California prologue in San Francisco.

TIAA-CREF is the only domestic team in the States whose focus is on developing the talent of tomorrow (of which Tolleson is one), and finds itself in the middle of a race with some big names, including Levi Leipheimer (Team Gerolsteiner), George Hincapie (Team Discovery), Dave Zabriskie (Team CSC), and Floyd Landis (Team Phonak), all contenders in this year’s Tour de France.

It’s not only nice to see our beloved magazine in the midst of sponsor giants like Trek, Giro, Nike, Discovery and others, it’s nice to show off a little of Denver, Colorado, too. Routinely a few riders are from our fine state. At this year’s first-ever Californian Tour, it is rider Danny Pate who is the sole representative of Colorado. Pate lives in Colorado Springs (but Colorado Springs Style — The Springs not-so-good version of a magazine — is not a sponsor, so we’ll adopt young Danny, thank you.)
